how to receive the holy spirit and speak in tongues

JESUS SAID YOU WILL RECEIVE IF YOU WILL ONLY ASK THE FATHER IN FAITH! “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: HOW MUCH MORE SHALL YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER GIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT TO THEM THAT ASK HIM?(Luke 11:9-13).

“Therefore I say unto you, WHAT THINGS SOEVER ye desire, when ye pray, BELIEVE THAT YE RECEIVE THEM, and YE SHALL HAVE THEM(Mark 11:24).

You see, faith is very simple; it is to believe what God says in His Word and to believe it enough to accept it as the absolute truth and act upon it. Faith is not faith at-all except it is expressed in action. The Word says anything at all that you desire when you pray, believe that you RECEIVE them and you shall have them. The Greek word translated as receive in this place is the same one that was chosen by Christ when He said you shall receive power after that the Holy Spirit has come upon you in Acts 1:8.

That word is not passive; it is an action word! It means, to take it unto oneself or to seize something by violent faith.

You must be aggressive in your faith, for the violent takes it by force and that force is the force of faith. Now do you desire to be filled with the Spirit and speak with tongues? First of all, understand that the Spirit has come since the day of Pentecost and has been filling those who receive Him by faith and giving them new tongues and power.

Now, you do not have to tarry because nobody tarried to receive the Holy Spirit after He officially arrived on the day of Pentecost. Those 120 disciples that were asked to tarry were asked to do so in Jerusalem, not in Nigeria, Africa or America, and they needed to tarry (to wait for the Holy Spirit to arrive on Pentecost). But after the Person they were expecting had come, nobody has to wait for Him anymore, but only to believe and receive Him.

You see, that is where so many people miss it today; they are still waiting for the Person Who has been around for more than two thousand years. The truth is that, the Holy Spirit has been here before you were born and all that is necessary is to receive Him by an act of faith. This truth is what I have helped people see by the leading of the Lord, and as many as have believed it have been filld with the spirit immediately and have spoken with tongues, and there have been thousands of them since then.

THE CONFESSIONS OF A PASTOR

“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth”(Mark 9:23).

A dear pastor told me in the Theological College the other day, “You see, Samson, I have sought this experience, I have sought the Holy Spirit for twenty seven years and I just can’t get it .” Then I explained to our dear brother with love and affection that first of all, the Holy Spirit is not a thing, but a Person.

Also, the Holy Spirit is not lost; rather, He has been waiting for him to receive Him a long time before he started seeking. He believed because I showed him from the Word, and then I showed him how to receive by faith and he was filled with the Spirit and opened his mouth and spoke in beautiful tongues by faith. Not only did this pastor’s prayer life changed, his wife also told him that he has become a new person when he got home.

The congregation also noticed that their pastor seemed to preach with a new fire and a new glow afterwards, and several other changes followed that experience in the life of our dear brother. Glory to God! We can help people by showing them what is obtainable from God in love. I have had testimonies upon testimonies on how tongues have improved the lives of people after they got filled with the Holy Spirit and I have numerous testimonies of ministers.

We know that one of the ways the Holy Spirit changes lives is through tongues. If I am to write the testimonies that I have obtained on tongues, I wonder how voluminous that book would have to be to contain them. God always honors our faith for it pleases Him (Heb. 11:6).

DON’T WAIT LIKE ISRAEL, THE SPIRIT IS ALREADY HERE! “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” (Acts 1:1-4).

The only thing God is trying to let Israel see is that the Messiah (Jesus Christ) had already come but several of them could not believe it and they are still seeking Him; they are waiting for Him to come and die on the cross. Study through the four other times that people were baptized with the Holy Spirit as recorded in the Scriptures and you will notice that it was instant, at the moment they believed; it was by faith.

Now, this is a prayer of faith for you: “Father, I receive the gift of the Holy Spirit in the Name of Jesus. I believe I have the gift now. Thank you for this beautiful new tongue that is welling up in my spirit.” Then what next? Open your mouth and talk in tongues! You say, “Samson, but how do I know it’s real since I don’t feel anything?” The answer is simple: you don’t need a feeling, you only need to believe and if you believe, you will speak; for God says, “Believe that you receive and you shall have.” To believe is of the heart. Let it sink into your spirit that you are filled with the Holy Spirit, then open your mouth by faith and speak in tongues. You might also say, “But Samson, the Holy Spirit is not speaking and my lips are sealed.”

Well, turn over to the book of Acts 2:4; “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and BEGAN TO SPEAK with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Paul also said, “I thank my God, I SPEAK with tongues more than ye all.” The Word of God makes us to understand that by the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established (Deut. 17:6; Mat. 18:16; 2 Cor. 13:1).

So, here is the third witness: speaking of the entire house of Cornelius when they were filled with the Holy Spirit, the Bible says in Acts 10:46, “For they heard them SPEAK WITH TONGUES, and magnify God.” It is clear that speaking in tongues is a willful act; therefore, you can speak with tongues at will from the moment you are filled with the Spirit. You have received the spirit of faith and not that of unbelief and that spirit speaks! “We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak” (2Cor 4:13). The spirit of faith is expressed in speaking, so open your mouth because you believe and begin to speak out and worship God in the unknown tongues, making melody in your spirit to the praise and glory of Jesus Christ.

THE HOLY SPIRIT DOESN’T SPEAK IN TONGUES; THE BELIEVERS DO!

“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues”-Mark 16:17 You see, Jesus speaking in that Mark 16:17 didn’t say that the Holy Spirit shall speak in tongues, He said “They (the believers) shall speak with new tongues”.

So we see that the Bible doesn’t teach that the Holy Spirit speaks with tongues but rather that the believers does so at will. The Holy Spirit forces no one to do anything; He is such a gentle Personality. You only need to just open your mouth and speak by faith. The devil might even come to suggest to you that what you have received is not real. Well, the question is: when you asked God for the baptism with the Spirit, did you believe for a genuine experience or a fake one? When you got saved, was it by faith or by feeling? If it was genuine and it was by faith, then believe that you also have the genuine experience of the baptism with the Holy Spirit that you believed for and start speaking out loud in tongues. Worship God in that new language and don’t give room for doubts and unbelief that often result from traditional teachings.

Congratulations! You’re filled with the Holy Spirit!!!
